In “Overture”, Angel Dust attempts to help Vaggie in filming a new commercial for Charlie with Husk and Niffty. In “Radio Killed the Video Star”, he is revealed to have an abusive relationship with his boss Valentino “Val”, who is frustrated at his most famous porn star having moved to Charlie’s hotel instead of living at the studio as he had previously been doing. In “Scrambled Eggs”, he partakes in trust exercises and other activities in the hotel.

He puts dildos in Vaggie’s dresser, plants gay pornographic magazines and a TV in Alastor’s office, scares Husk with cucumbers and water, switches Baxter’s vials when he isn’t looking, and uses prank guns to terrify enemies or rapacious sinners who don’t take “no” for an answer. He switches between playful and destructive as he wishes, and does not care too much for responsibility as he would rather engage in a turf war or sexual activities than clean up a mess he caused. One of these central sinners is Angel Dust (voiced by Broadway star Blake Roman), a sex worker and adult film star in the series’ brimstone-ladened locale. Angel also cares about Cherri as shown in the turf war scene when he pushed Cherri to save her from Sir Pentious’s grip.

The chest is composed entirely of fur, and the fur that angel treats as breasts are actually a cluster of his fur pushed up over time to shape breasts due to the tightness of his jacket (as shown in one of Vivziepop’s speed draws). In addition, Angel endured endless physical, emotional, and sexual abuse for his infractions, such as failing to pay Valentino the money that he owed him, or for being late to film shoots. Angel was also never allowed to speak to Valentino out of turn, in addition to being forced into a strict diet. He was also put under constant surveillance from the moth’s underlings whenever he was allowed some free time, most likely to prevent him from potentially running away and escaping his pimp’s influence. This abuse resulted in Angel developing a deep-seated hatred for Valentino over the years. Upon finally finding Fat Nuggets, Angel emotionally embraced the distraught pig and assured him that he was safe.

The character then dies because of his chemical dependency, succumbing to an overdose sometime in his early 30s (in 1947). As Anthony grew up, he became more and more involved in the family business, including gun-running and the ever-growing drug trade. Angel didn’t really know about Alastor on their first meet until Vaggie told him his backstory. He didn’t believe Vaggie about his power and thought of him as a joke until he used his powers to beat Sir Pentious from which he looked very shocked. Later in the episode, Vaggie scolds him for potentially ruining the whole project, Angel Dust at first seeming apathetic and having second thoughts.
Principal characters of Helluva Boss
- Charlie is implied to be able to see through his persona in the prequel comic and, despite his attitude, she could tell he was unhappy with his life.
- While Charlie leaves with Alastor, Vaggie admits that she cannot guarantee their safety at the hotel anymore, and that she doesn’t expect any of them to have stayed by the time she gets back from learning how Carmilla Carmine killed an angel.
- The two clearly care about each other, and while Angel still enjoys teasing Vaggie, he is much less mean-spirited about it than previously and the two are even capable of joking around with each other.
- Angel Dust greatly despises Vox, as the TV Demon, like many sinners, only views Angel as a sex object and a pretty face he could use to pleasure himself.
- To his surprise, once he decided to confess to her his new-found opinion of redemption, Cherri was understanding of his decision and said she would support him all the way.
Angel expressed confusion, and he declared the gesture to be “a trick”, to which the angel dust hazbin hotel princess quickly reassured him that she believed that there was a lot more to Angel than he or other sinners thought, and she simply wished to nourish that and encourage him to be better. Angel, not used to such kindness, took the money with an awkward response and a promise to keep in touch. Although Angel believed the idea of redemption to be “silly”, and was initially only interested in getting a free room, it was obvious from Angel’s demeanor that Charlie’s gesture and words made the spider demon consider genuinely trying redemption for the first time.
So, Angel Dust purging Hell of his oppressive employer could be the perfect way to give this character the arc he so deserves. While it is alluded to in Hazbin Hotel, fans may have missed the exact details of how series mainstay Angel Dust died. Before fans met the silver-tongued Angel Dust in Hazbin Hotel, the character suffered a tragic death in the real world.
Furthermore, Molly played an instrumental role in nurturing Angel’s drag aspirations, allowing him to privately explore this facet of himself by donning her clothing. Angel has a notable soft spot for children and is great with them in general, which was displayed by his quickly forming a friendship with Charlie’s Angels, due to them humanizing him, listening to his stories, and motivating him to become a better person. He will happily go out of his way to brutalize or kill anyone who intentionally harms children in any way.
Fan-favorite Hazbin Hotel character Angel Dust came to a tragic end that put him in the series’ hellish landscape.
A famous porn star and the first sinner the hotel is attempting to redeem, but his selfish actions of using the hotel as a rent-free living space threaten to jeopardize Charlie Morningstar’s dream. Angel Dust is seen drinking and doing drugs with a compony of gangster shark demons at a bar, before Husk sees one of them spike Angel’s drink with a Love Potion. The two argue, and after Husk tells Angel to cut the act, he professes to Husk that its not an act; he is self-destroying himself in hopes Valentino will set him free. The two are attacked by the shark gangsters, before the two of them defeat the sharks as a team. He accessorizes with two different sets of long arm-length gloves; on his upper set of arms are cerise gloves with white scallops on the cuffs, and on his lower arms are plain white gloves. He will often use these traits to deflect criticism or insults, and side-step responsibility.
He was unhappily married to Stella, and has a daughter named Octavia, around whom he acts as a “dorky dad”, putting her happiness ahead of everything else. In reality he is preemptively defensive and hides much of his true, more sensitive and insecure, self for his own protection, not expecting those around him to show him kindness. In background artwork seen in the pilot, Angel Dust’s feet resemble those of a spider’s. After a painful day at work, Angel Dust returns home only to be greeted by his friend Cherri Bomb, who takes Angel, along with Sir Pentious, Niffty and Husk on a night into the city while Charlie and Vaggie travel to Heaven. Acting like everything was fine, Husk calls him out on his insincere behavior, causing Angel to angrily storm off.
relationships
When Charlie was comforting him as he was recovering, Angel said that taking the bullet was his way of paying Charlie back as thanks for her refusing to hand him over to Valentino. Despite Cherri being a very close friend, Angel was initially hesitant to tell her that he genuinely wanted to better himself in order to escape Hell and, more importantly, Valentino. He feared that Cherri would ridicule him over this, or potentially even sever ties with him, and thus had decided to put off telling her about it.
Charlie’s Angels
- Angel Dust has a deep hatred for the Devil for torturing and nearly killing him and all of his friends.
- In Episode 2, “Radio Killed the Video Star,” Angel’s facade begins to slip as his abusive relationship with overlord Valentino (Joel Perez), a porn studio owner, comes to light.
- Angel Dust, whose real name is Anthony, is a flamboyant and brash spider demon known for his quick wit and sarcastic demeanor.
- Angel was shown to actually care about Charlie because he begged Valentino not to hurt her, and felt remorseful after he had to angrily lash out at her to get her out of the studio, making her cry.
- Due to his frequent emotional, mental, and physical abuse (including rape) from his boss, Valentino, Angel has low self esteem, intense depression, and often cries in private.
When they return to set, Charlie is enraged at Valentino abuse towards Angel Dust, but before she can do anything, Angel Dust angrily tells her to leave and that she ruined everything. Saddened by his words, Charlie leaves and Angel continues his work, regretting that he was forced to do that. While filming, Charlie arrives and Angel Dust immediately tries to get her away before Valentino sees her. When Charlie accidentally ruins the set, Valentino takes Angel Dust away and abuses him, telling him Charlie can’t help him as he owns his soul via contract. Angel Dust pleas for Valentino not to hurt her and that he will make her leave, to Valentino’s sustained anger. Much of the series thus far has been focused on Angel Dust’s abusive working relationship with Valentino, as the overlord still holds ownership of the character’s souls.
Doing drugs (both formerly).Flirting with others.Pulling pranks.Drinking.Antagonizing Vaggie.Starting fights (with Cherri Bomb by his side).Hanging out with his friends. Angel is wary of Alastor’s immense power and mysterious motives but often challenges him with bold and provocative remarks. Alastor, in turn, seems both amused and annoyed by Angel’s flamboyant personality and blatant disregard for the Radio Demon’s authority. Despite this, the two share an unspoken understanding, often working together for the sake of the hotel’s success, though always with their own ulterior motives. Though usually depicted with six limbs, Angel has a third retractable set of arms that he can summon to use at will. Angel Dust is a very open-minded character in regard to sexuality, gender, and several other “touchy” subjects of the 21st century.
